AIKI-JIUJITSU

The term Aiki-Jiujitsu originated with the Takeda clan, an ancient Japanese samurai family that traces itself back to the imperial family. Aiki-jiujitsu was an advanced level of martial arts taught only to high-ranking members of the Takeda family. In this century, the art was taught to Morihei Uyeshiba, who adapted it to create modern Aikido, a system that has found wide acceptance around the world. While aikido and aiki-jiujitsu deal extensively with weapon training, it's the empty hand aspects that are best known in the west.

Professor Ronald Duncan (1937 - 2012) had a long and involved career in many areas of the martial arts that few dare explore. He is trained in several traditional and modern styles of Jujitsu and Aiki-jiujitsu, as well as karate, kempo, kendo, judo, aikido, ninjitsu and knife throwing. Professor Duncan did not neglected modern weaponry. A certified firearms instructor with over 200 competition shooting awards to his credit, Prof. Duncan taught elite military troops and law-enforcement officers.

The Way of the Winds™ System was founded by the late Professor Ronald Duncan, who has often been stated to be a practical practitioner of the martial arts. He always strived to broaden and develop his skills and knowledge, from knife throwing to the stealthy discipline of Ninjutsu.

The Way of the Winds™ System not only entails training in Ninjutsu, but also encompasses a comprehensive approach to all of the many facets of Ronald Duncan’s history as a martial artist. Self defense and combative strategies are the main emphasis of training as students are also exposed to the traditional Budo arts such as Taijutsu /Jujutsu, Aikijujutsu, non-traditional as well as traditional weaponry (Kobujutsu).

Today Professor Ronald Duncan is acknowledged as the “Father of American Ninjutsu” as well as starting the Koga Ryu movement. There was a time when Ninjutsu was not being practiced publically in this country, but Ronald Duncan was one of a few individuals who dared to seek out and study the arts of the ninja. Since then, other Ninjutsu practitioners and schools have emerged.

The Way of the Winds™ System’s philosophy is to endure, which is something that Professor Ronald Duncan had done for over 50 years as a martial arts pioneer
